The American Dream
The American Dream is to worship abundance and mistake accumulation for meaning. Mass consumerism has become our collective sense of reality and my images refuse the satisfaction of that very spectacle. We live in a world where everything is trying to sell you something, so this series sells you the absurdity of the extreme reality of that very notion - overconsumption. Inspired by the Pop Art movement of the 1960’s, these scenes create domestic unease with the sight of found everyday objects perpetuated by the concept of the traditional housewife. Saturated messes that simultaneously look so pleasing, it almost looks fake. Twisting the seductive nature of aesthetics and advertisements, the idea of the American dream emphasizes that our modern lives are full of mass-produced pleasures that crumble as fast as they're created.
